This is the second
vac-formed kit that I attempted to build having seen it in The Aviation Hobby
Shop near Heathrow Airport. It was also Dynavector's first kit. The
parts provided are vac-formed fuselage, wing, wheel bays and cockpit canopies
with white metal undercarriage and cockpit details. The vac-formed
surfaces show delicate engraved panel detail and the plastic is very easy to
work with. I initially assembled and painted the model with wings
outstretched but was later inspired to fold the wings by an article by Jim
Howard in Scale Aircraft Modelling magazine.

Out came the large knife and off
came the wings. I added wingfold detail as per the SAM article using
plastic card and spares box parts. Steel wire was used to stiffen the
joints and hold the wing sections in place. Two lengths of wire were
primed and painted red to act as the props that are installed to steady the
wings once folded.
The model was primed with
Halfords white acrylic spray primer paint, which also formed the underside
finish, and Humbrol EDSG enamel was brush painted onto the upper surfaces.
The kit decals were used to represent an AS.Mk.1 of 719 Squadron FAA stationed
at RNAS Eglinton in Northern Ireland during 1957.
